Bushnell, FLA — The purpose of this memo is to provide guidance specifically to those people who were vaccinated by the Sumter County Health Department at the Wildwood Community Center.

I am aware that there is concern among many of you concerning the availability of a second dose. The resolution of this issue depends to a large extent on how the national supply system reconciles the challenges in the vaccine supply distribution system.

A staff member from the Sumter County Health Department will be calling each person we successfully vaccinated on 5 January 2021 and 7 January 2021. Those individuals have been automatically scheduled by us to receive their second doses on 1 February 2021 and 3 February 2021, respectively.   Those vaccinated by us after 7 January 2021 were given vaccination appointment cards, advising them of when their second dose is due.

There are no additional actions those vaccinated by the health department need to take. Shortly before 1 February, a staff member from my office will contact you and advise you of the current vaccine availability situation. If I receive the vaccine up to the day before your due date, we will vaccinate you at the Wildwood Community Center. If we don’t receive vaccine by then, we will contact you and schedule a date for you to receive that second dose.

Throughout this unfortunate pandemic, I ask all of you to be patient and calm. The health department has the capacity to re-vaccinate everyone we provided a primary dose to.   If I have the doses in my possession at the health department, I view it as my direct responsibility to provide this to you as soon as possible.

In the meantime, please follow the prevention recommendations I advised previously. Please wear a mask if there is any question of close personal interaction with others. Wash your hands frequently. Avoid large crowds. Postpone unnecessary travel.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging period.

Respectfully,

Sanford D Zelnick D.O., M.S.
Director
Sumter County Health Department
