The Sumter County Health Department offers family planning and related preventive health services to males and females, including teens, on a voluntary basis in a confidential manner.
Family Planning is a program that provides quality, low cost, and easily accessible reproductive health care. Services include education, counseling, medical services, referrals, and follow up visits as needed. Services provided:
- Physical Exams and Labs
- Counseling and Referrals
- STD Counseling, testing and treatment
- Sterilization Referral for Tubal Ligation and Vasectomy
- Health Education and Promotion
- Pregnancy Testing
- Emergency Contraception Pill
- Condoms at no charge

- annual physical exams including a pap smear
- birth control supplies
- pregnancy testing if indicated
- limited treatment for sexually transmitted infections
- related medicines and lab tests
PEPW – Presumptive Eligibility for Pregnant Women (PEPW) –Sumter County Health Department processes applications for temporary Medicaid eligibility for prenatal medical care. Eligibility is based on the family unit’s gross income.
